KOCHI: The crime branch, which is investigating into a firing case at a beauty parlour in Panampilly Nagar that took place last year, has found that a quotation of Rs one crore was given to the accused for carrying out the crime.

The quotation was reportedly given by a Kasaragod native, who is a gang member of underworld don Ravi Pujari. He also gave the accused, Bilal (25) from Aluva and Vipin Varghese (30) from Kochu Kadavanthra a pistol and a motor bike to carry out the operation. A third person, who is an Elamakkara native, was taken into custody in connection with the case. Investigating officials have recovered jackets, helmets and .22 calibre firearm, with which the bike-borne accused opened fire at Nail Artistry,thebeauty parlour owned by actor Leena Maria Paul on December 15, 2018.

The assailants had left the incident spot leaving a paper carrying the name of Ravi Pujari. “We have come to the conclusion of the involvement of Ravi Pujari in the case after examining his voice in the call receivedby the actor, phone number and his associates in the case. Besides, we have tracked the modus operandi of Pujari, and have observed that he used similar modus operandi in Karnataka and other places to loot money. He faces around 250 cases across the country,” said the official.

During interrogation, the actor had told police that Ravi Pujari had demanded Rs 25 crore from her. Meanwhile, the accused was produced in Ernakulam additional CJM court and remanded.Police got custody of them for next five days.
