A popular Easton salon is serving more Lehigh Valley clients thanks to a recently opened second location.

J. Morgan Salon Company, which has been offering hair, nail and makeup services in Easton for a decade, on Monday opened a second location at 4773 Freemansburg Ave., Suite D105, in Bethlehem Township.

The new salon, dubbed J. Morgan Salon West, is between MOD Pizza and Verizon Wireless at the Madison Farms complex. It occupies the space left vacant by Learning Express Toys, which closed in September after less than a year of business.

“We’re very excited to be expanding,” co-owner Jamie Thomas said. “We’ve been in Easton for 10 years, starting out at a small salon on College Hill, and now we have a staff of around 60 people at both locations.”

Thomas, who handles the business side of the company, and his partner Jayson Morgan, a stylist with more than 25 years of experience, in 2013 moved the salon from College Hill to its current downtown Easton spot at 252 Spring Garden St.

In addition to hair services, including cutting, styling, blowouts, perms, highlights, balayage, color correction and extensions, the Easton salon also offers other services, including eyelash extensions, facial waxing, makeup application, manicures and pedicures.

It has won distinctions such as “best men’s haircut,” “best salon for women’s cut and color” and “best hairstylist to make you feel like a million bucks” in recent editions of Lehigh Valley Style magazine’s annual “Best of the Lehigh Valley” awards.

“We have specialists who can handle every hair type,” Thomas said. “A lot of them are color certified through Redken in New York, with some also Ouidad certified to handle curly hair.”

The Bethlehem Township salon, open daily, offers all of the same services, including hair cutting for men, women and children, as the Easton location, with the exception of nail services, Thomas said.

The new salon features 12 stylist stations and carries professional hair care and styling products from top brands such as Kérastase, Pureology and Redken.

An “emphasis on ongoing education” separates J. Morgan from most other salons in the area, Thomas said.

“Jayson is a 30-year international Redken Artist, who’s traveled the world to educate stylists at huge shows and other salons,” Thomas said. “He’s also done New York Fashion Week and ‘Project Runway’ before writing our entire training manual. So, before any of our associates work on the floor, they train under him or another person he’s trained for nine months to a year. We also have other professionals keeping our stylists up to date with the latest techniques and trends throughout the year.”

J. Morgan West is open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sundays. New clients are welcome. Info: 610-419-1898; jmorgansalonandhome.com.
