LAHORE: The Punjab Assembly has been moved against exorbitant increase in the prices of edible oil and ghee.
Opposition Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz member of the assembly, Hina Pervaiz Butt, submitted a resolution to the PA secretariat here on Tuesday declaring that the very high increase in the prices of ghee and edible oil is unacceptable and the government should ensure provision of the commodities at cheaper rates at least at the Utility Stores Corporation (USC) across the country.
It says since the rate of good quality ghee has increased by Rs21 per kg and edible oil by Rs19 per kg both the commodities have gone missing from the federal government-run USC.
In Lahore, it says, the two commodities have been missing from the shelves for the last one week or so and the government should act against the hoarders besides taking steps for the immediate provision of the ghee and oil at cheaper rates at the stores.
