A new kids hairdressers has opened – and it has its own play area!

This is the second salon to be launched by the people behind Trimz and Tantrumz, the kids-only hair salon in Rubery.

That salon proved to be so popular with families, particularly those with children with autism, that the couple have decided to launch another branch.

The new Trimz and Tantrumz salon is on Newborough Road in Solihull.

This salon has a safe, gated play area with toys, a LEGO table, blackboard, games and soft mats for crawlers.

And they have also launched their own range of products too.

Owner Natasha Ryan is patient enough to get even the trickiest of trims done, even if it involves her lying on the floor to suit the child’s mood.

“I didn’t realise it was going to be so big when I launched the Rubery salon in the summer of 2017,” said Natasha, 37, who has a 17-year-old son and five-year-old daughter.

“The response has been amazing – people travel to us from all over the Midlands and as far as Wales to bring their child here for a haircut.”

Parents are already praising the new salon, which opened last month.

One mum said: “We have previously had awful experiences of haircuts for my two year old – constant screaming and tantrums resulting in an awful cut.

“Here was amazing, not a single tear in sight, so patient and friendly with great facilities for the kids – fantastic little salon.”

Natasha has taken an autism awareness course to try to help all of her little customers, and their mums and dads, have a relaxing time at both of her salons.

“I’ve had parents in tears saying they’re so happy to finally be able to get their child’s hair cut,” said Natasha, who has been a hairdresser since she was 16.

“Some have never been anywhere where their child will sit to have a trim before.

“I’ll do whatever I can to help the child relax and enjoy the experience, playing with them, cutting their hair in the soft play area or even down on the floor if need’s be, I don’t mind.”

Once Upon a Time Tea Parlour

Parents travel hundreds of miles to get their children’s hair cut at the Rubery and Solihull salons, and they often ask for suggestions on where to go for lunch afterwards.

As a result, Natasha and her husband Stephen decided to open a tea room for kids too.

Once Upon a Time Tea Parlour in Rubery is packed with all the things children love – princesses, cars, tea sets, books, milkshakes and waffles.
