KALYAN: The Kalyan crime unit of Thane police have busted a gang whch was manufacturing and selling adulterated ghee and edible oil by packing in the name of branded companies like Amul, Goverdhan, Krishna and Sagar.
The police have also raided a godown situated in Dahisar area in Mumbai where main accused Chandresh Mirani (50) used to manufacture oil and then would use to sell it to other accused at lower price compared to branded one to make profits.
The police have recovered a thousand kilograms of adulterated ghee, edible oil and branded companies packets materials.
In this connection, police so far have arrested five accused from different places in Thane District and Mumbai.
The officials said that recently their team received information that a person Alpesh Gor from Dombivli selling adulterated ghee and edible oil in the name of branded company to consumers. Acting on information Sanju John, senior police inspector of Kalyan crime unit formed a team and arrested Gor (36) and during interrogation come to know about other people role and subsequently arrested four others including main king pin Mirani from Dahisar based his godown from where he used to manufacture adulterated ghee and by making packing in to branded companies packing than would used to sell at cheaper rate than branded company to make more profit.
The arrested accused are Jimit Gathani, 33, Saud Shaikh, 32 and Dhanraj Mehta,62. The police said their team are also looking for other accused involved in to racket.
