AN Athy beauty salon raised €350 for Pieta House with the help of some very impressive superhero props for Hallowe’en.
Moda Beauty Salon on Leinster Street was able to provide a few Ironman helmets and Captain America’s iconic shield to enable their dresser-uppers to dream a little bigger this year.
It was all the brainchild of employee Ainsli Prinsloo-Lenihan who chose Pieta House as recipient after her husband died by suicide two years ago.
“And it’s not just me, Athy has been hit hard [by suicide] in the last few years,” she remarked generously.
Poignantly, it was her late husband Billy who made the Ironman suit whilst working as an aircraft technician with the Irish Air Corps, whilst his colleagues fabricated the shield.
“I bought it in a silent auction in aid of the girls,” she explained.
“They’re both huge Marvel fans,” she said.
