The price of loose soybean oil has been fixed at Tk129 a litre
The government has decided to keep the maximum retail price (MRP) of edible oil at Tk153 a litre, the same set in May earlier this year.
The Ministry of Commerce announced this in a press release issued on Sunday, after meeting with officials of the Bangladesh Vegetable Oil Refiners and Vanaspati Manufacturers Association.
Price of bottled soybean oil has been fixed at Tk153 per litre, while a five-litre jar will cost Tk728.
Both the prices are the same as was fixed by the government in May last.
Besides, the price of loose soybean oil has been fixed at Tk129.

The MRP of loose super palm oil has been fixed at Tk116 per litre.
Earlier on May 27, the refiners increased the price of edible oil by Tk9 per litre, raising price of the bottled soybean oil to Tk153 per litre from Tk144.
This rate was later reduced in July by Tk4 per litre to Tk149, considering the purchasing capacity of consumers ahead of the Eid-ul-Azha amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
