No quarantine 15 here! Emily Simpson showed off her slim figure after going through some “ups and downs” on her path to getting fit.
“It’s been a JOURNEY to get to this point right here. Ups and downs. Gains and losses,” the Real Housewives of Orange County star, 44, wrote in a candid Instagram post on August 13 alongside a photo of herself practicing squats. “Currently 16 pounds down. Body fat percentage 10 percent lower than last year. And no longer categorized as ‘obese.’”
The reality star encouraged her followers to find their own inner strength and thanked those who have helped her along the way on her wellness journey.
“There’s no right way to start. There’s no magic plan or magic pill. You just have to dig deep and make yourself a priority,” she explained. “My first step was contacting @paulinastein and asking for help. Sometimes we become too overwhelmed with life, kids, depression, weight gain, hormones, relationships, illness etc … but you have to start somewhere. Make today that day. A year from now will pass by regardless. Might as well make it your healthiest yet 🙌🏻.”
During an October 2019 episode of RHOC, Simpson told her costars that she hadn’t stepped on a scale in several months. “I just, I don’t want to know,” she said to Tamra and Eddie Judge at their gym, CUT Fitness, in the vulnerable scene. “I’ve been avoiding knowing any of this information. I’ve just been living in denial. I don’t know if I want to know.”
The same month, the Bravo personality opened up about dealing with hate on social media after going through a weight gain.
“I felt like I was defending myself because I felt like I was defending the majority of women in the world. Because when people were making comments about me or saying derogatory things about me, I felt like, ‘I’m the average woman, like, most women are my size and when you’re insulting me, you’re insulting a ton of women out there,’” she told Us Weekly exclusively at the time. “And I just thought that was really cruel because beauty comes in all shapes and colors and sizes, and if we all look like supermodels, how boring would the world be?”
Despite the challenges she’s faced on her road to fitness, Simpson is feeling good about the progress she’s made so far.
“I have more work to do to get to my ultimate goal. But I’m enjoying the journey and relishing in the successes. And I still enjoy an Egg McMuffin occasionally too (it’s all about balance!),” she wrote via Instagram. “Hair extensions are gone and soon these implants are about to be evicted. I feel lighter. Free. And Maybe someday I’ll be brave enough to share the ‘Before’ photo with you all … until then make YOU a priority ❤️❤️.”
