Detectives have released CCTV of a man they want to speak to in connection with a burglary at a Newark hair salon.

A man climbed a fence to get into the back yard of Purdey hair salon in Portland Street before unlocking a side gate. He left but later returned with a tool and forced entry to the property through a back door.

A quantity of cash was taken from a till during the burglary, which took place between 6pm on Tuesday (September 29) and 8.30am on Wednesday (September 30).

Pc Sarah Murdoch said: “Our investigation is ongoing and we are carrying out a number of lines of enquiry, including checking for forensic and CCTV opportunities.

“We are also urging anyone who recognises the man in the footage, anyone who saw any suspicious activity during the times stated or anyone who has any other information about this burglary to please get in touch with us.

“Break-ins and burglaries can have a serious impact on local businesses and we will continue to do all we can to identify those responsible.”

Anyone with information should call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 123 of September 30, or alternatively call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
