Swimwear label Budgy Smuggler has partnered with mental health organisation Waves of Wellness (WOW) Foundation to help those doing it tough via surf therapy programs.

The beach-inspired outfitter will team up with the foundation to raise money so they can continue to provide help along the east coast of Australia. As part of the collaboration, Budgy Smugler will design a range inspired by WOW for both men and women, where 15 per cent of proceeds will go to the charity.

“WOW is a natural fit for us being a young impressionable team at Budgy. We’re also keen to lend a hand wherever we can when it comes to mental health to create a positive and approachable environment in the water, and in our daily lives,” said Brenden Hartmann, Budgy Smuggler GM.

“WOW brings people together in a connected environment, sharing and normalising mental health in away that’s fun and light-hearted – that’s why I think Budgy Smugglers fit snuggly with our message,” added Joel Pilgrim, CEO of WOW.

One in five Aussies are tackling some form of mental illness and almost half of us will experience a form of mental illness during our lifetime. WOW wants to tackle the “man up and get over it” mentality, spreading the message that it’s okay to not be okay.
